AN INVITATION TO JOIN THE CATFORD CC FOR A RIDE IN THE COUNTRY
In 1886 when our cycling club was formed Catford was a small village bordering on rural Kent. These days our rides still begin at the edge of the countryside, but now start from Farnborough Village.
We extend an open invitation to cyclists from SE London and NW Kent to ‘test drive’ our rides before deciding whether to join.
We offer a foretaste of FRIENDSHIP; FUN; FITNESS; FREEDOM.
We will lead you through quiet country lanes and introduce you to parts of rural Kent and Surrey which you never knew existed.
New cyclists should firstly try our Saturday ride as they are shorter and run at a ‘recreational’ pace. You will be supported as we always wait if you get tailed off on a hill and will never leave you stranded.
When you get fitter and more experienced you can go on our Sunday Ride which is a brisker and longer run.
When you are a member you can try our regular club time trials and then compete in open events. You can also race on the Road, Circuit, Track and Trail. We promote these events including our famous Hill Climb which is the oldest existing cycle race in the world and our HELL of the ASHDOWN sportive which attracts 1,000 riders. Another of our activities is cycle touring both in the UK and on the Continent. We also have social events such as our annual barbeque and our Luncheon & Prizegiving.
